Thinking of having an ice cream parlour in your role play area in last few weeks of term? Go for it - the kids LOVE it!!! The very best strawberry playdough recipe I have used involves some good old strawberry tea bags! For the best dough I use 2 cups of flour, half cup of salt, 1-2 cups of boiling water, 1 sachet of cream of tarter, tablespoon of oil. (add a squirt of glycerine at the final kneading stage.)
Mix the flour, salt and cream of tarter together. Add the oil. In a cup of boiling water add a strawberry teabag. Add to the dry ingredients. In the second cup of boiling water add some red colouring. Mix into dry ingredients until you are happy with the consistency. Now tear open a couple of the teabags and mix the leaves into the dough. It looks just like strawberries!!! add the glycerine, give a good knead and you are done! Brilliant!
