Chances are that the children in your class will have grown some sunflowers over the summer. They may have even painted some or learnt about Van Gogh's famous painting last term. There are so many fabulous sunflower activities you can do with young children.
The best activity I love to do with young children is to save my dead sunflower heads and take them in for children to explore. The children are fascinated by finding all the seeds inside and it really is the best way to learn about the life cycle of a sunflower.
It's always a good idea to revisit learning and give children an opportunity to consolidate their learning. Looking at sunflowers in September is an excellent way to do this.

If you are growing your own sunflowers, take some photos at different stages so that you can use them to tell the story of the life cycle.
